Seokjangni Museum is a representative museum that provides a deep insight into the Paleolithic Era, when written language was non-existent. Professor Son Bo-gi (1922-2010), the first in South Korea to discover Paleolithic relics and culture, said, “Seokjangni Historical Site used to contain settlements of people, who made stone tools, at least 300,000 years ago. There is clear evidence that there were human settlements here even in the Paleolithic Era.” The World Paleolithic Festival was held from September 13 to 16, 2014, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the discovery of relics from the Paleolithic Era, and presented the visitors with experience programs to learn more about Paleolithic culture.
