Childcare Allowance

Eligibility criteria
A preschool child less than 84 months old who is cared for at home (not cared for by a daycare center, kindergarten, or government-subsidized full-time childcare service) and who is a Korean national with a resident registration number
Support period
The childcare allowance is paid from the month in which the application form was submitted until December of the year before the child reaches the school age, provided that the total amount is not calculated based on a day rate but is calculated based on a monthly rate.

Amount

Amount : KRW 100,000~200,000 depending on the child’s age (month/person)

Payment date
On the 25th of every month (the day before if it falls on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday)
Payment method
- Paid in cash (deposited into the child’s or the parent’s bank account)
- The bank account is checked by the mayor, county governor or head of the gu office for legitimacy prior to the first payment deposit.
Retroactive payment
Payment is made retroactively based on the application date as the guarantee determination date.

However, for those who apply for the childcare allowance within 2 months after the birth of the child (60 days incl. the date of the birth), the allowance will be paid retroactively from the date of birth.
Payment after address change
- If the move-in registration date falls between the 1st and 15th of the month: The mayor, county governor or head of the gu office of the new area of residence is responsible for issuing the payment.
- If the move-in registration date falls between the 16th and last day of the month: The mayor, county governor or head of the gu office of the former area of residence is responsible for issuing the payment.
